IT Initiatives Taken by The Bank

 

The Bank has been constantly taking new initiative in Information Technology with the increased focus on customer service and setting up of new delivery channels. The Bank has computerized all its branches & Extension Counters (E/C) on CBS and with this complete business of the Bank is getting routed through Centralized Banking Solution (CBS). The Bank has also deployed several electronic delivery channels such as ATMs, Internet Banking including utility payments, SMS Banking, Mobile Banking etc. and brief status of these projects is given herein below :

 
  • Centralized Banking Solution (CBS)
    • 100% CBS Bank with 2351 Branches & Extension Counters .
    • Anywhere, Anytime, Anybranch Banking resulting in Customer of the Bank, rather than customer of the Branch.
    • Host of IT Enabled products e.g. RTGS/NEFT/Flexi Deposit Etc. available through all 2351 Branches & Extension Counters.
  • Automated Teller Machine (ATM)
    • 2630 ATMs as on December 31,2017.
    • Onsite: 2291 , Offsite: 318 & Mobile: 2
    • Access to about 2,10,000+ ATM's of other Banks through "NFS" and "Visa" .
    • Bio-metric ATMs to enable transaction authorization through finger prints.
  • Internet Banking

    Access NetBanking application using URL https://www.obconline.co.in and perform routine online operations using UserID, Login password and Transaction password. As of now, following online facilities are provided to our customers :-

    • Online generation of Statement of Account For a given period, Range of Cheque Nos and Amount.
    • Facility for Stop payment of Cheques, Cheque Status Inquiry and Clearing Instruments.
    • Customer can make NEFT/ RTGS payments without incurring any cost.
    • Funds Transfer to own linked accounts.
    • 3rd Party Funds Transfer to other Bank's accounts (through NEFT/RTGS).
    • 3rd Party Funds Transfer to other accounts within OBC.
    • Loan EMI Payment and Online creation of e-FDRs/ e-CD₹
    • Purchase of Air Tickets and Railway Tickets.
    • Payment of Direct and Indirect taxes, CST/ VAT collection for various State Governments
    • ASBA Online facility to apply online for ongoing IPOs/FPOs.
    • FORM26AS Online Tax credit view statement; Income Tax e-filing.
    • Online view of DeMAT -Depository details.
    • Online Share Trading in collaboration with M/S. Karvy, IDBI Paisabuilder, Sharekhan and Geojit Technologies
    • e-Commerce (eShoppe):- More than 3000 Merchant establishments have been integrated to facilitate online banking with retail merchants.
    • Utility Bills Payments viz. Electricity, Telephone, Mobile, LIC Premiums, Credit cards, Travel & Ticketing, Mutual Funds etc.
    • Customer can also make Donations and make Credit Card payments like ICICI Bank, SBI, CITI Bank, Barclays Bank etc.
    • NetBanking application is secured with 256 bits encryption of VeriSign.
    • Velocity check on number of transactions effected per day/ per Beneficiary.
    • Salary Upload facility for corporate netbanking users.
    • Self User Creation and Online Password Reset facility.
    • Online PPF Account Viewing Facility
    • E-Statement of Account through registered e-mail id.
  • SMS Banking

    These services facilitate automatic transmission of SMS to the customer's chosen mobile number for various transactions in his account and cover following :-

    • Credit /debit alerts for amounts specific to individual customers.
    • SMS Based TrackerID messages are sent during Beneficiary Registration to ensure safe and secure online transactions.
    • Threshold alerts to customers if balance goes below minimum balance being maintained under different type of accounts.
    • Alert message for deposit accounts going to transfer in inoperative deposit status in advance from 21st month to 23rd month.
    • Alerts on Cheque Book Issuance, Cheque Bounce,DBT/DBTL Credits and Aadhaar seeding and deactivation.
    • Promotional alerts viz information about new launches/ forex rate/ loan query etc.
    • Transactions happened through various delivery channels viz. Internet Banking, ATM etc irrespective of transaction amount.
    • As per compliance Bank has initiated steps for introducing facility for sending SMS alerts to all minors on attaining major.

  • Mobile Banking- "OBCmPAY"

    Any Customer of Bank having Java enabled Mobile phone irrespective of the Mobile Service Provider viz. Airtel, MTNL, Vodaphone, VSNL, Idea, Reliance etc., can register for "OBCmPAY" and avail following services-

    • Account Balance Enquiry
    • Account Statement
    • Intra Bank Fund Transfer
    • Inter Bank Funds transfer through IMPS and NEFT. Merchant Payments through IMPS
      Cheque Stop Payment and Cheque Status Inquiry
    • USSD Based Mobile Banking (Without Installing Application Software)
  • Online Housing/Education/Car Loans
    • The customers wishing to avail Housing loan, Car loan or to pursue higher studies with the Bank's assistance can do so by availing loan facility from OBC. They can apply for the loan online at the Bank's website named http://www.obcindia.co.in by following few simple user friendly steps.
    • Dedicated team of officers keeps track of such online requests and facilitates quicker processing and disposal of such online requests. The status of application is periodically updated on the Bank's website which can be tracked by students from the cyber receipt reference number provided at the time of submission of online application.
  • OBC e-Taxes
    • Coming out with another IT initiative, the Bank is now providing the facility through which all types of direct and Indirect taxes can be deposited by the customers online through the net banking services from the comfort of their office or home.
    • The challan is generated online and the same should be preserved for future reference and records.
  • Online Tax Accounting System (OLTAS)
    • OLTAS is a service provided by the Bank for acceptance of income tax and other direct taxes on behalf of Government.
    • The customers including corporates, individuals, proprietorship concerns, partnership firms, trusts, clubs, societies etc. can pay their tax liability through bank's OLTAS window available through 165 select branches across the country.
  • Cheque Truncation System
    • The Bank is an active participant in the Cheque Truncation System (CTS) project of RBI, presently implemented in three grids i.e. Northern Grid through Delhi, Southern Grid through Chennai and Western Grid through Mumbai.
  • Branchless Banking-Financial Inclusion
    • The Bank has started financial inclusion in the various districts and states of country. For the convenience of villagers, hand held devices are installed in the identified villages. Around 1240 BC agents are deployed pan India for increasing customer based under Financial Inclusion Program.
    • Customers in these villages have been facilitated with basic routing Banking services viz. cash withdrawal and deposit by using smart cards bearing their photograph and basic particulars.
      The Bank is in process to procure new devices to be used by the BC agents and Aadhaar seeding (with customer consent) into account
    • Bank is performing the e-KYC process to verify the demographic details of customers from UIDAI in two ways as below:
      • e-KYC via branches
      • e-KYC via POT (Point Of Transaction) devices in Field
    • Pin based Rupay transactions
    • AEPS on HHT/KIOSK
    • Demo auth transaction via FIG
    • The bank is among the first 8 Banks which are ready to process the Aadhaar based FTO (Fund Transfer Orders) as on 1st September, 2014.
    • The Bank is capable of issuing Aadhaar based RuPay Cards to its customers.The Aadhaar number of the customer is fed in the magnetic strips of such cards. These Cards can be used for transactions at POT devices as well as ATMs.
  • Aadhaar Payment Bridge System (APBS)
    • The new payment service offered by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) using the Aadhaar number, issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and is known as Aadhaar Payment Bridge System and is referred to as APBS. APBS is used for credit transactions for Government/ Government agency disbursements.
    • APBS has the following objectives.
      • To sub-serve the goal of Government of India (GOI) and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in furthering Financial Inclusion by way of processing government disbursement using Aadhaar number.
      • To promote electronification of retail payments.
      • To support various Schemes like NREGA, Social Security Pension, Handicapped Old Age Pension etc. of any Central or State Government bodies, to send financial details to the beneficiary using Aadhaar number.
    • The APBS service is used by bank to receive/send different types of subsidies including DBTL. Credit based on Aadhaar numbers of customers is credited to their corresponding accounts.
  • National Automatic Clearing House(NACH)
    • Bank has implemented NACH, which uses IFSC Code/MICR for transferring the fund.This is beside other channel APBS, in which Aadhaar number is used for fund transfer.
    • NACH-Credit is used to receive all credit in our customer accounts. Further,we have also implemented NACH-Debit as destination Bank wherein Mandates sent by other Banks are accepted and basd on these mandates other Banks send file for debiting our Customer accounts. Now, Bank has also launched NACH-Debit as sponsor Bank wherein our Bank can also receive mandates from customer and get verified by other Banks.
  • Wide Area Network (WAN) And DR
    • Robust, secured and efficient Enterprise Wide Area Network covering approx. 2697 locations including ATMs.
    • This Network is primarily a Leased Line and MPLS based network with ISDN/VSAT/3G as backup.
    • The network is a three-tier architecture viz. Core, Aggregation & Access layers.
    • Near Line Site (NLS) at Vashi, Mumbai connected to DC through Optical Fiber.
    • Disaster Recovery Site at New Delhi and well-documented Business Continuity Plan (BCP). The Bank has 3-way Data Centre with Primary Data Centre, Near Line Site (NLS) at Mumbai and DR site at Delhi.
  • e-KYC
    • The Bank is the first public sector bank to accept Aadhaar based e-KYC as a valid proof of Identity and Residence for fulfilling KYC requirements while opening Accounts
  • e-Lounge
    • The Bank has recently setup 24 e-lounges at different centers to providie self service equipments viz.BNA's/Recyclers, Cash Dispenser (ATM). Passbook Printing Kiosks, Coin Vending Machine and PC for NetBanking facility.
  • Self Service Cash Deposit Kiosks
    • The bank has deployed cash deposit kiosk for facilitatting customer deposit without any hassle. 
  • Self Service Passbook Printing Kiosks
    • Bank has deployed more than 400 Self service Passbook Printing Kiosks and all are operational in branches and e-lounges wherein from the customers are getting their passbooks printed at their own.
  • IS Security
    • The Bank has implemented adequate Security controls so that information and information systems remain inaccessible to unauthorized persons.
    • All the WAN links and network equipments are monitored centrally through the Network Operation Centre 24 * 7  basis.
    • Perimeter Security devices have been deployed to secure the data.
    • 2nd factor authentication using SMS based on tracker-Id has been made mandatory for 3rd party fund transfer for Inter & Intra Bank Internet Banking and e-Commerce transactions.
    • The Bank security systems are robust and extremely strong.
    • Bank is having Security Operations Centre (SOC) at PDC, Mumbai for monitoring the critical assets of the Bank at PDC, NLS, DRS, DIT and CBS Cell
    • Bank has implemented Centralized anti-virus solutions for updation of virus definition in end-points.
    • Half-yearly Vulnerability Assessment(VA), Device Level Audit (DLA) and Penetration Testing (PT) are conducted to check the vulnerabilities in our devices / websites.
    • Quarterly Information Security training is conducted to keep the staff aware of critical IT locations and Information Security and its need
    • Bank is having ISO 27001:2013 Standard Certification which is valid upto 18-04-2019.
    • Bank has procured 7 modern IS Tools through common SOC RFP as per RBI recommendations.
    • Bank has deployed Patch Management Solution for timely updation of OS related patches released by OEMs.
    • Bank has implemented Active Directory Solution for the Desktops and servers for end point security.
