Concessions

Concessions are available for the beneficiaries of social justice schemes of Central/ State Government including members of scheduled caste / tribe communities and physically challenged persons and they are allowed to open Savings Bank Accounts with an initial amount of Rs.100/- and for keeping a minimum balance of Rs.100/-.

 List of beneficiaries/ schemes of Central/ State Governments is given hereunder.

A) Beneficiaries under:

  • Swaranjayanti Gramin Rojgar Yojna (SJGRY)
  • Swaranjayanti Shahri Rojgar Yojna (SJSRY)
  • Prime Minister's Employment generation Programme (PMEGP)
  • Antodaya Swa-Rojgar Yojna (ASR
  • Dr. Shyama Prashad Mukharjee Swa-Rojgar Yojna
  • SC / ST Finance and Development Corporation of State Governments

B) Pensioners of Social Welfare / Physically handicapped welfare departments of State Governments.

C) Teachers and employees of aided schools of State Governments.

D) Physically handicapped / blind persons.

E) Student scholarship accounts of State Governments including SC / ST beneficiaries.

F) Persons / farmers engaged in Tiny and Small units associated with KVIC.

G) Beneficiary of National Family Assistance Scheme.

 In order to open a Savings Bank Account under special category as stated above, the prospective account holder is required to produce any documentary evidence such as Pass Book / beneficiary Card issued under the scheme, certificate from BDO/ Gram Panchayat/ Administrator/ Chief Executive Officer of the Social Welfare Schemes/ Employment Schemes/ School authorities distributing stipends/ scholarship etc. A copy of such authentic and documentary evidence has to be submitted bank's record.

 Concessions

Savings Bank account holders of the above-mentioned category shall not be subjected to any penalty for non-maintenance of minimum balance in their Savings Bank account.

  • 1. Charges as above shall be levied for non-maintenance of minimum balance at the end of the month in case the balance at the close of any one or more business day(s) during the month is observed below the minimum balance requirement.
  • 2. No charges shall be levied for non-maintenance of minimum balance in pension accounts, Accounts of Senior Citizens, accounts opened under 'SB Vidyarthi Scheme' blinds & physically handicapped persons and beneficiaries of Government Sponsored Schemes as above.

 

1.3 No Frills Account (SB basic Accounts)

a) A nominal Amount of Rs 10/- has been prescribed towards initial deposit for opening of SB Basic Account.

b) Under this scheme there is no minimum balance prescribed and as such no charges shall be levied for non-maintenance of minimum balance.

c) A maximum of six withdrawals per month are permitted, free of any charges, under the scheme. For additional withdrawals during a month (i.e. over and above the six withdrawals) charges of Rs 5/-per withdrawal shall be levied. These charges shall be levied upon such withdrawals taking place.

Such Concessions shall be extended to those borrowal accounts who enjoy/ are enjoying credit facilities at the same branch or other Branch of our bank where his/ her Account is maintained.

2.8.1. Indo-Nepal Remittance through NEFT

ii. State Bank of India - Rs 20/- per transaction. SBI would share this Rs.20/- with NSBL at Rs.10 each. NSBL would not charge any additional amount for crediting the beneficiary, if he maintains an account with it.

iii. In case the beneficiary does not maintain an account with NSBL then, an additional amount would be charged- Rs 50/- for remittances up to Rs 5,000/- and Rs 75/- for remittance above 5,000/-.

i. Originating bank - Maximum Rs 5/- per transaction



ii. State Bank of India - Rs 20/- per transaction. SBI would share this Rs.20/- with NSBL at Rs.10 each. NSBL would not charge any additional amount for crediting the beneficiary, if he maintains an account with it.

iii. In case the beneficiary does not maintain an account with NSBL then, an additional amount would be charged- Rs 50/- for remittances up to Rs 5,000/- and Rs 75/- for remittance above 5,000/-.

  •  In all cases, postage, telegram charges and other out of pocket expenses have to be recovered in full.

Permissible Concessions

1. Concession in rent by 10% & 20% in case of advance payment of rent for two/ three years respectively.

2. Concession of Rs. 50/- in locker rent shall be allowed for lockers allotted to senior citizens, handicapped persons and visually impaired persons subject to timely payment of rent. However, penalty as mentioned below shall apply in case of delayed payment of locker rent.

Note: Only one concession can be permitted to any customer under any category of service.

Penalty for delayed payment of locker rent

Penal interest @ 12% p.a. (simple) shall be charged for late payment of locker rent for the period of delay only.

B RESTRICTION ON NUMBER OF OPERATIONS

 50 operations in a financial year are permitted free of charge and beyond that Service Charges of Rs. 20/- per operation shall be levied /charged.

C. SECURITY DEPOSIT FOR TIMELY REALISATION OF LOCKER RENT

In respect of realization of locker rent the RBI guidelines provide as under:-

The bank shall not insist on Fixed Deposits as a prerequisite for allotment of Lockers. However, to ensure prompt payment of locker rent, bank may at the time of allotment (of new Lockers only), obtain a Fixed Deposit which would adequately cover 3 years rent, the prevalent charges levied by the manufacturer for breaking open of the locker and cost of replacement of the Lock, in case of an eventuality.

Refund of Locker Rent

Minimum Period of Locker facility shall be One Year and in case of Surrender of Locker, Refund of the Locker Rent, if any, shall be paid for the Complete Quarters left as on the Date of Surrender of Locker, for which Locker Rent has already been received in advance e.g. in case a Locker hirer has paid Locker Rent in advance say upto 31.03.2010 and Locker is surrendered before the end of the quarter 30.06.2009, the Locker Rent refundable shall be on pro rata basis for 3 Quarters i.e. for the remaining full Quarters ending Sept' 09, Dec' 09 and March '10.

7.1. ATM transaction of other Bank customer

 The maximum cash withdrawal from ATM by customer of other bank shall be limited to Rs. 10,000/- per transaction. This shall be also applicable for our cardholders using other bank ATMs.

 There shall be a ceiling of maximum of 5 transactions per month on other bank's ATMs for cash withdrawal free of cost.

 Any additional cash withdrawal transaction done on other Bank's ATMs (i.e. 6th transaction onwards) Rs. 20/- (inclusive of all taxes) shall be levied to the customer. Although transactions done by our cardholder on our Bank's ATMs shall remain free of charges and the ceiling of Rs. 10,000/- per transaction shall not be applicable.

However, the charges for international transactions under VISA shall remain same as given below and the service tax for the same shall be charged extra :
